Montessori-inspired. Entirely screen-free.
Arkley is a Montessori-inspired preschool in Madeenaguda, Hyderabad, and our classrooms have no screens in them. Young children get time to concentrate, room to make choices, and caring educators close by. Six commitments shape the way learning feels here.
Learning through play
Play is not separate from learning; it is how learning happens at this age. Blocks invite early mathematics, pretend play builds language and empathy, and sand and water invite first science.
Real materials, real conversation
Our classrooms are intentionally screen-free. Young children grow through conversation, movement, and real materials in their hands, so that is what fills their day.
Creativity & independence
Children pour their own water, care for their work, and make meaningful choices throughout the day. Art, music, and movement give them ways to express ideas and grow confident in their own abilities.
Social & emotional development
Kindness, patience, and resilience are skills to practise. Educators help children name feelings, repair relationships after conflict, and find words for what is happening inside them.
Safe, intentional spaces
Every room and garden is arranged for supervised, unhurried exploration: child-scaled furniture, purposeful materials, and clear sightlines for educators. Safety is quiet, consistent, and built into the day.
The Prepared Environment
The room is the third teacher.
Walk into an Arkley classroom and you will notice the calm: child-height shelves, purposeful materials, natural light, and space to concentrate. The room is arranged so children can see what is available and take an active role in their own learning.
A thoughtful environment supports thoughtful learning. When children are trusted with real materials and meaningful responsibility, they begin to see themselves as capable.

Is Arkley a Montessori school?
We describe ourselves as Montessori-inspired rather than as a certified Montessori school, and the distinction matters to us. Our classrooms draw on Montessori principles — ordered environments, real materials, freedom within clear limits, long uninterrupted stretches of work — alongside other things we believe in for this age group.
What does screen-free actually mean day to day?
There are no screens used for teaching in our classrooms. Children learn through conversation, movement, and materials they can hold. No tablets in laps, no smartboard lessons, no videos to fill a gap in the timetable.
Why no screens at this age?
Because what young children need most is the thing a screen cannot give them: real objects to manipulate, real faces to read, and unhurried back-and-forth conversation with an adult who knows them. There is time enough for screens later. The early years are short.
Where is the school, and which ages do you take?
Arkley is on Manjeera Pipeline Road in Madeenaguda, Hyderabad, beside Vijetha Super Market. We currently run Playgroup through Grade 2.
